The Altadena Land Use committee voted to deny a conditional use permit to Arroyo Pacific Academy tonight. The committee vote was unanimous.
Philip Clarke, director of the school, owns the property at 183-205 E. Palm St. and is seeking to turn it into a campus for 250 students. The property was formerly the Bienvenidos Children's Center and the Sahag-Mesrob Armenian Christian School, which was shut down by the county in 2009 for not having proper permits.
The committee's recommendation will now go to the Altadena Town Council for consideration at its Sept. 20 meeting. We'll have the full story of the meeting up tomorrow.
