Chaney Trail newsgroup was abuzz about a group of people, armed with beer, gathered around a telescope-like device that was belching fire (possibly firing something) on upper Chaney Trail over the weekend. Who knows what this thing was, but the dry woods are a lousy place to conduct a pyrotechnic experiment.
This led to a side discussion about what to do if you report something to the Sheriff's Department and nobody comes, as happens more often that we'd like. Altadena Sheriff's Capt. Roosevelt Blow has recommended following up with the department, giving your name, time of incident and when you called, where you called from, and a concise incident report. Then they can find the tape of the call to review and take the next steps.
And what WAS that flamethrower thing about, anyway?
