"Martin Luther King ; the Power of Words."

In Martin Luther King's writings,
 find heart line to his soul.
A speaker's fame---words do inspire
to make the nation whole.

His speaking---it was powerful
in use of metaphor.
Those images he gave to us---
we'd never heard before.

"The First Time ,Webster's, That  I Saw Your PLACE.."

The first time ever, that I saw your Place,
 Your visioning, it did shine out for me.
For ALL was you and you became that grace;
Perfection made for this community.
No matter how the winds did blow and shake,
A rose among the thorns eternally.
You matter to the artists and you make
Community of strength with eyes to see.
 With vigilance-------this tiny town was found;
this heritage of strength among the small.
Your works and deeds---- in value of renown,
A work that serves in value for us all.
A place, new place-----Webster's will grow in Time,
New growth in truth------- will build just like this rhyme

Poetry Corner: a Halloween acrostic

"Sonnet of the Scary - in 13 Lines with a Quiz!."

Even now, this longest night of fear shrieks
a dandy wail of ghosts in kith and kin!
So gather the horrors ------ monstrous freaks
and all ------ in dead silence terror stalks in!
Usher in secrets of crumbling walls,
and shadows that cut like a pendulum blade!
Add oval portrait ------ where beauty she falls,
muted all beauty in Death's ghastly shade!
A burial casket ------ life within lurks!
 A needful and ape-like clue will abide.
Castle door ------ padlocked ------ yet Death takes his perks;
that oblong box ------ holds a secretive bride!
 Ravens and man ------ evermore ------ fright's alive!

* If you haven't guessed  WHO  this poem is about, then spell it out!

Take the 1st letter of the 1st line.
Then the second letter of the 2nd line,
the 3rd letter of the 3rd line, and continue on
 until the poem's end with the 13th letter of the 13th line.

"The Bear Went Over The Mountain..."

The Bear went over the mountain
to see what he could see.
He saw another stuck hiker;
how many..... would this be?

Bear mused about these strange people,
 and just how strange they would be
If Volunteers were not willing
to set these hikers free?

And citizens too, they wondered
as copters filled their sky
since Edison work is done  now,
why do so many fly?

For Labor Day and MLK,
half century, we look back.
The DREAM, the DREAM, it has not died;
it grows stronger, in fact!

For Labor is the heart of all,
and with it ---- nations rise!
From scientists to school teachers---
with Middle Class the prize.

In 1963, the year!
The MARCH on Washington;
though much has changed, so much to do,
for work is still undone.

"Really Unique Dog, Yes-siree!"

Of course in acronym breakdown,
first letters spell RUDY!
I am that dog, I need a home,
 I'm bachelor, yes-siree!

I've caught a few of lucky breaks,
I need just one break here,
21st century dog, I am,
technology makes clear!

Pretend I am a bachelor then,
a-looking for a date!
So read on for my profile then,
I need a life long mate!

Athletic with those muscles fine,
with eyes so warm and brown.
An outdoor guy and homebody
yet love to do the town.

Maysie, Maysie, Susan  searched  wide for you.
She's half crazy---- and on her birthday too!
Your collar, you slipped and ran free,
her birthday was sad, dear puppy.
A naughty feat  on a wildlife street,
we hope nothing sad you'll meet!

" Back Then  -----  When We Were Colonies"

Back then--- when we were colonies,
and Britain was quite cruel;
the laws they made and laws they changed;
lived not by Golden Rule.

Intolerable Acts, as  they were known!
Coercive--- their solution.
Ironic too---- as we recall---
lead to revolution!

Two hundred thirty-seven years,
this birth from times forlorn.
Life, Liberty, and Happiness---
pursuit of truths inborn.

Poetry Corner: Some lines on a heron

" Fascinating Fisherman"

The Heron is a lovely  bird!
Although he flies through air,
he likes to sit and walk about,
and seems so debonair.

Except for that Antarctica,
 to all continents he'll fly.
How wonderful  for DENA-town
that he has stopped on by.

And Tom and Jane, the lucky ones,
with Szabo, as last name.
Your Koi pond is quite famous now
with sushi meal of fame.
