No, crime writers, silly! Sue Colasurdo of the Altadena Library sends us this:
The Friends of the Altadena Library are sponsoring a Saturday afternoon program featuring two hard-hitting crime writers: Pamela Samuels-Young and Gary Phillips. The "Grisham With a Female Twist & L.A. Noir" free event will be held on Sat., February 2 from 2-4 p.m. in the Altadena Library Community Room, 600 E. Mariposa St.
Pamela Samuels-Young, author of In Firm Pursuit, is a corporate lawyer who has created an African American lead character who is anything but stereotypical; and Gary Phillips whose dark tales delve into the heart and soul of the mean streets of Los Angeles, is currently featured in the much publicized anthology, Los Angeles Noir. The program will be moderated by Gayle Bartos-Pool, a former private detective, mystery writer, and director of the speakers bureau for Sisters in Crime, Los Angeles.
The authors’ books will also be offered for sale with part of the proceeds going to the Friends of the Library. To find out more call (626)798-0833 or visit the library’s website at http://www.altadenalibrary.org.
