The LA Daily News has a feature today celebrating people who volunteer their time, everything from mentoring to fundraising to helping out the sheriff's office or county coroner. Altadenan Ernestine Sala, 78, was named county senior volunteer of the year. Sala, formerly of New Orleans, lost everything in Hurricane Katrina and was determined to do her part when she resettled here. It's one of several inspiring stories in the article.
