Public safety stuff from 3/18 town council meeting

• LA County Fire Dept: The two-alarm fire Feb. 28 at the old Washington Mutual building involved some 57 or 58 units, about 90 firefighters, and caused $1.5 million in damage.  Last month there were eight structure fires, 207 rescues, and 27 false alarms.
• California Highway Patrol: For February, there were 27 collisions, and one fatality: Jeep vs. 54-year-old black male in wheelchair at E. Woodbury Rd. and Navarro Ave.
• In public comments, neighbors complained about a lack of law enforcement response at the Cobb Estate at the top of Lake.  Graffiti, vandalism, open fires, fireworks, and threats to residents were cited, as well as a dead dog who was dumped there a week ago with no response to date from animal control.
