PSN front-pages the closure of Rhythms of the Village Charter School. Rhythms closed last Wednesday, two months before the end of the PUSD semester, and the 60-some ninth and tenth graders are being sent to other schools to close out the year.
The closure comes after enrollment never meeting expectations, the withdrawal of a Gates Foundation program assistance, and pressure from the Pasadena Unified School District to meet enrollment and financial expectations. In recent weeks, teachers have gone unpaid and Rhythms officials said they would move from their location at the former Edison School.
Says Principal Marilyn Chukwurah:
"When it is not fitting right, it is best to try on another shoe."
Unless the shoe has dropped.
