Arroyo Monthly is a high-end yet free magazine that you can find around Altadena and Pasadena. (Judging by the advertising, it's apparently aimed at people who are obsessed with their bodies and their kitchens.) Anyway, in the June issue (not yet online) there's a nice piece by Jenine Baines about two area originals: Altadena artistic legend Jirayr Zorthian and Nobel Prize winner
Richard Feynman (who is buried in Mountain View Cermetery).
The two men shared a friendship and were mutual students of each other. It's all part of a Zorthian retrospective at the Armoey Center for the Arts, which runs from June 29-Aug. 31. It's the first major exhibition of Zorthian's paintings, drawings, and architectural designs in over 50 years. Worth checking out.
