National Weather Service is reiterating its excessive heat warning for Friday (up to 113 degrees? Eeek!) pretty much from 11 AM until dark.
We continue to note the touching concern at the end of these notices, now regarding one's children and pets:

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN LOS ANGELES/OXNARD HAS CONTINUED AN EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING FOR VALLEYS OF LOS ANGELES AND VENTURA COUNTY...AND THE SANTA MONICA RANGE. THIS WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM TO 8 PM PDT FRIDAY.
HIGH TEMPERATURES ON FRIDAY ARE EXPECTED TO TOP OUT BETWEEN 106 AND 113 DEGREES...WITH HEAT INDICES AROUND 105 DEGREES.
AN EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING MEANS THAT A PROLONGED PERIOD OF DANGEROUSLY HOT TEMPERATURES WILL OCCUR. THE COMBINATION OF HOT TEMPERATURES AND HIGH HUMIDITY WILL COMBINE TO CREATE A DANGEROUS SITUATION IN WHICH HEAT ILLNESSES ARE LIKELY. DRINK PLENTY OF FLUIDS...STAY IN AN AIR-CONDITIONED ROOM...STAY OUT OF THE SUN...AND CHECK UP ON RELATIVES AND NEIGHBORS. NEVER LEAVE CHILDREN OR ANIMALS IN PARKED VEHICLES EVEN WITH THE WINDOWS CRACKED...DEATH WILL LIKELY RESULT.
