"Books with Bite" highlight Teen Read Week at the library

The Altadena Library, 600 E. Mariposa St.,  will celebrateTeen Read Week 2008 “BOOKS WITH BITE” from Oct. 12-18, with two events for teens:

On Tues., Oct. 14 3:30 PM come to our Monster Game Fete, where we will give traditional games a Monstrous twist. Teens make sure to join us for laughs, snacks and a wickedly good time!

On Thurs., Oct. 16 4 PM come and see a great “Movie with Bite:” the cult “Animagic” classic, “Mad Monster Party,” starring the voices of Phyllis Diller and Boris Karloff. Teen make sure to join us for a “Howlingly great movie” and fresh popped popcorn!

 

Services set for Rev. A.D. Thomas

Services have been announced for the memorial and funeral of Rev. A.D. Thomas, husband of Dr. Sandra Thomas.  Both services will take place at Metropolitan Baptist Church, 2283 Fair Oaks, Altadena.

Memorial service:  Fri., Oct. 10, 7 PM

Funeral service:  Sat., Oct. 11, 10 AM

There is a scholarship fund being established.  The specifics are not yet known.

A scholarship fund has been established in memory of Rev. A.D. Thomas.  IIf you wish to contribute to it in lieu of flowers it would be most appreciated by Dr. Sandra E. Thomas.

Green California "Community College Summit" Oct. 8-9

From the never-downshifting Monica Hubbard comes word that Green California will be holding a Community Colleges Summit at the Pasadena Convention Center next week.  The emphasis is not only on "greening" the campus, but using community college resources to train tomorrow's workforce in the "green economy."  For more information, check out their website here.

School bond issue forum Oct. 15 @ Burbank.

An informational community forum on Measure TT (the $350 million bond measure for improvements to Pasadena Unified schools) will be held at Burbank Elementary School, 2046 N. Allen, Pasadena at 7 PM on Oct. 15.
