Stephen Wood is a magical tuba player - quite literally! Stephen has been playing a brass instrument most of his life, having grown up in The Salvation Army, playing extensively in many of the brass bands that function both as touring groups and as musical support for the weekly worship services, including the Tustin Ranch Band and The Pasadena Tabernacle Band.
Stephen works as a professional magician, and has performed as a close-up and parlor magician for nearly 15 years. As a result, Stephen has toured the world as a musician and a magician, having performed in all 50 states, Australia, England, New Zealand, Scotland, France, South America, Canada, and Mexico, providing his special blend of magic and sound to support the different music groups he has performed with. Stephen studies tuba with Beth Mitchell and Patrick Sheridan, and is planning to enter UCLA's Master's Program for Tuba Performance in the fall of 2009, and plays exclusively on a Willson Eb 3400 FA-5.
Robert DeVaughn, Baritone, started singing at an early age in the children's choir of his home town church in Birmingham, Alabama and continued after his family's move to California. Within the rich artistic environment of the Pasadena School system, Robert played violin, bassoon and tuba. His love of music blossomed under the tutelage of Margaret Hougasian at John Muir High School. Singing has always been an important part of his life.
Prior to graduating from high school, Robert successfully auditioned for the "Musical Americans" of Rio Hondo College under K. Gene Simmons, and toured with the group throughout South America and Europe as musical ambassadors. In past years he has sung both chorally and as a soloist. Robert sings weekly as a member of the Altadena Baptist Church Choir under the direction of Glenn Molina, and is currently a member of "Opera Pasadena" under the direction of Barbara Ebert.
