Local music/advertising/all around creative guy Bill Burnett tells us that he is throwing together a date at the Coffee Gallery Backstage:
Our own feelings about Pete Seeger are rather mixed (to say the least), but we're always in favor of people singing together for any and all reasons, and we agree with the conservative commentator Victor Davis Hanson, who wrote something recently along the lines of "there's more talent in Pete Seeger's little finger than the whole of Madonna"! We'll let you know when a time is firmed up for the event.
UPDATE 4 PM: Bill sends us this:
Start time is now firm at Noon, event going till about 3:00. People should come with instruments, including percussion and those who wish to perform should sign up at the door and expect to do one or two songs--more depending on the turnout. Songs should be in the Pete Seeger spirit--Which I guess I'd describe as Inclusive organic acoustic optimistic realistic peace & justice music.
Also, maybe you can include this in your post: There is a movement to give Pete Seeger the Nobel Peace Prize. People can find out about it and sign a petition at www.nobelprize4pete.org.
Also also, if you can link to
and tell people they can find out info on all of this there, I'd appreciate it.
Consider it done!
