Getting Altadena/Pasadena kids to Catalina camp is the focus of the first annual "Wine and Dine with Kids in Mind" fundraiser, to be held in Altadena on Thurs., July 23.
The fundraiser will benefit the YMCA of Glendale, to help send Pasadena/Altadena children to Campus by the Sea , a residential summer camp on Catalina Island. Every year, hundreds of Southern California students participate in Campus by the Sea where campers can participate in swimming, kayaking, snorkeling, crafts, hiking, basketball, volleyball, songs and campfire skits.
Karyn Messler, Campus by the Sea Director, found that few Pasadena/Altadena kids were being registered for any summer residential camps, due to their family’s current hardships.
The fundraiser will be hosted by Terri Darr, former candidate for seat 3 on Pasadena’s Unified School District Board in conjunction with local entrepreneur, Ariel Kirkland, owner of Polka Dot Parties.
The fundraiser is Thurs., July 23, 6-8 PM at 2647 Homepark Ave. In Altadena. For more information, contact Kirkland at Polka Dot Parties, (626) 676-0414, or info@haveapolkadotparty.com
