Janette Williams on PSN's Altadena beat contributes a nice story about Kazi Pitelka, whose urban homestead is the site of this weekend's Golden Poppy Awards from Altadena Heritage. We like that she named her chickens after chicken dishes, such as Tetrazzini and McNuggets -- we had a boss with four flightless geese that he named Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, and Chuck's Birthday.
UPDATE 7.24 3:30 PM: Michele Zack, wearing her Altadena Heritage hat, writes us that besides the tour, there will be food, music,
and some special Altadenans will be honored who beautify their
neighborhoods with drought-tolerant and/or edible landscapes.
