The amazing Bill Westphal sends us pictures from last night's historic Sheriff's Support Group concert at Farnsworth Park. Not only was the crowd there to enjoy local jazz guitarist Brian Hughes, but they were there to honor Altadena's own legend John Levy, who played bass with, and later managed, so many stars of jazz. The 97-year-old Levy received recognition from:
The Sheriff's Support Group of Altadena
Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca
Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich
California State Senator Carol Liu
And United States Congressman Adam Schiff
In the picture Levy, on the right, receives a commendation from Los Angeles County from Altadena Sheriff Capt. Roosevelt Blow.
Brian Hughes and his ensemble filled the night with jazz.
