The Arroyo Timebank is a Pasadena-based effort to create, well, a "time bank" -- one hour of your services earns an hour of someone else's -- babysitting, housepainting, whatever you have to give.
But even a time bank needs money! The Arroyo Timebank is holding a community yard sale on Sat., Sept. 12, at the Zane Grey Estate, 396 E. Mariposa. Coordinator Janine Christiano send out a message to volunteers, which we share after the jump:
I spent four hours today with time bank member Elizabeth excavating items from my storage room (soon to be office!) for our community yard sale. This is our big fundraiser for the year and will pay for our community weaver site and for all the printing we do, so please start collecting up items you wish to donate and let me know what hours you can volunteer. We will need a lot of volunteers throughout the day, please sign up if you can. If we make enough money no one has to pay dues and maybe we can start thinking about other things we might be interested in pursuing with the time bank ( a tool or toy library, classes, training, retreats etc). Remember all the time you spend collecting items, telling people about the sale, and working the sale should be added to your account.
If you would like to donate food or beverages, please let us know, so that we can have enough serving ware. We are asking you to limit all disposable items. Gloria and Steve will provide all glasses, plates, napkins, and utensils for the bake sale/refreshment table
Tours of the Zane Grey Estate will be given for a $5 donation at 8:30am, 2pm and 4pm
Massages will be provided by David Barker on the porch for donations to the time bank.
Please tell your friends and post everywhere! If anyone can donate free ad space let us know!
I am working on a flyer, but have attached a word doc for easy posting. Detailed instructions are also included as a pdf, and here is a break down of all the info:
