Theatre Americana and Show of Support Productions unite for the first time to produce “A USO Show” on Friday, September 11, 2009, 7:00 P.M. at Farnsworth Park Playhouse. Admission is $10.00 with proceeds being raised to benefit the Farnsworth Park “After-school Program”. The park is located at 568 East Mount Curve Avenue, Altadena, just north of Altadena Drive.
Enjoy musical talent featuring popular artists and songs such as “Bugle Boy”, “I’ll Be Seeing You”, “Ain’t Misbehavin”, an Oklahoma Medley and so on. The Finale includes a tap routine to “Anchors Aweigh”. The show narrates the history of the USO and is ultimately a tribute to all military troops fighting to preserve our liberties.
Donna Scarantino, President of “Show of Support Productions” (Co-President of Theatre Americana) is very excited to be collaborating with the County of Los Angeles in presenting this memorable USO performance. The purpose of “Show of Support Productions” is to assist non-profit organizations in their fundraising efforts. Theatre Americana has strong roots in Altadena, being the resident theater at Farnsworth Park for over 75 years. This historical Altadena-based theater is known for producing original plays and musicals by American playwrights. They are currently in the process of redefining their Mission, to broaden the scope of their activities -- wishing to provide educational opportunities to aspiring writers, actors and directors.
