Parents and kids gathered in the Altadena Library Thursday afternoon to "Read for the Record" -- joining readers around the country reading the same book on the same day. This year it was Eric Carle's classic The Very Hungry Caterpillar, read by librarian Cassandra Stearns, which, even after 40 years in print, has the power to enchant. Readers also received a special edition of the book.
