No drama, no surprises, workmanlike, nay, dull.
Action-wise, at last night's town council meeting, the major action was donating $500 to the sheriff's food and toy drive, and writing a letter of appreciation to CHP Officer Andre Primeaux, who has patrolled the area for awhile and is transferring elsewhere.
Some items of interest:
- An application form is available at the sheriff's station and community center to name families to be recipients of the sheriff's food and toy drive.
- Councilman Herbert Simmons asked why there was only one sheriff's station in town and if it was possible to open a station on the westside. Capt. Roosevelt Blow said that the sheriff's department does a survey every few years, looking at demographics, geography, the level of crime, etc. to determine the level of police services to have, and based on size and population... we don't get one.
What we DO get is a two-man detail working burglaries all day with a mandate to get results.
