We subscribe to most of the neighborhood newsgroups to keep up with what's going on, and have been very impressed with how well they communicate and what they do -- the neighborhood groups were very active during the Station Fire, they share burglary information with each other, and the President Streets group just launched a toy drive for the sheriff's station (thank you, Lisa Gibson of Altadenablog sponsor Mike Gibson's Service Center for that one!)
We've decided that we want to start one for the area around Altadenablog World Headquarters, tentatively named HAHA (Holliston Area Homeowner's Assn.). It's not restricted to homeowners, of course -- just residents of the area. At this point, the final name is unknown and the boundaries are fluid, altho' Altadena Dr. and Mendocino sound like a logical north-south boundary.
