Marcia Thompson’s reign as 2008-2010 Poet Laureate of the Altadena Library District is coming to a close and she is encouraging all poets in the Altadena community to submit their poems to the Altadena Library to be published in their next anthology.
Throughout Marcia’s reign she has had the privilege of sharing her poems with fellow poets on numerous occasions and learned the Altadena community is filled with very talented writers with wonderful stories to share.
Since the publishing of Marcia’s first poetic collection, The Wisdom in Your Wings: A Poetic Tribute to Dr. Maya Angelou and the theatrical adaptation that opened in 2008 at the William B. Davies Auditorium, her life hasn’t been the same. She is grateful to her community for receiving her talent. Her second poetic collection entitled, Mid-Life Revival will be released in April.
Marcia now plans to devote much of her time to her studies as she begins a doctoral program in Education and Media Studies. Marcia was recently asked to co-teach early childhood literacy at a junior college and plans to continue teaching and working with adult learners pursuing careers in child development and education.
