A note from the Altadena Arts Council:
Planning for the “Altadena ARTBreak 2010 Community Arts Festival”, sponsored by the Altadena Arts Council and co-sponsored by Los Angeles County Parksand Recreation Department, is moving into high gear for the event’s Sat., June 12 opening at Farnsworth Park. And event organizers are pleased with the participant interest the event has generated thus far.
Developed by The Altadena Arts Council to “celebrate the talent and creativity of young people of this area, a primary goal of ‘ARTBreak is to highlight the important role that the arts can play in transforming their attitudes and appreciation of their own talents and capabilities. A variety of workshops, fine arts projects and exhibits, demonstrations, concerts, performances, hands-on projects for young people and their families, and a variety of foods and refreshments will be available. Student-Artists and Art Educators from 14 area public, private and charter schools will receive awards.Event organizers also advise that several slots are still open for vendors interested in selling food and/or non-food items at ‘ARTBreak, but the May 15th deadline is fast approaching. Applications are also available online at www.altadenaartscouncil.org or by calling the Arts Council at 626-797-5798.
Altadena and nearby residents are asked to sign-up and participate in the “ARTBreak 3-Kilometer Run/Walk for the Arts” which kicks off the day’s festivities at 8:00 a.m. Arts Council Executive Director Mary Ann Stevenson tells us that the run/walk will offer a fun-filled, fast-paced and exciting test for runners (and walkers). And besides, proceeds will go towards supporting arts programs in Altadena. Join the fun and become a “friend of the arts.” To register, simply go to the Arts Council’s website: www.altadenaartscouncil.org.
