The Altadena burglary wave has now hit the forested Chaney Trail neighborhood.
Crimereports.com reports that there was a residential burglary on the 3800 block of Alzada Rd. on April 26. Reports from the neighborhood said that the house was locked, and access was through a broken window.
However, residents in the tight-knit neighborhood are known for watching out for each other, and that was the case here. in an email sent out to the Chaney Trail listserve, moderator Alice Wessen said:
In this case burglars thought they had staked out a home without anyone watching.
Neighbors were.
Due to the quick action of those neighbors, many of the stolen goods were recovered in the crime vehicle, but not all.
Carolyn Seitz of the sheriff's Community Advisory Committee writes:
Thanks to quick action by neighbors who observed suspicious activity or a suspicious vehicle, the Sheriff's Department responded quickly and Detectives located the vehicle on the west side of Altadena and recovered some of the stolen items.
The Detectives are looking for recollections of details from anyone who observed that suspicious activity.
Detectives were unavailable today for us to get an update on the suspects.
