Since May is National Foster Care Month, the folks at Altadena Library would like to remind both foster parents and young people in foster care of its Library Cards for Foster Youth Program. Foster care givers may sign up their foster children for library cards so that they may check out books and other materials as well as use the computer centers in the Main and Branch libraries. No fines or fees will be charged for this program. During the month of May, the Main Library will also offer a display of materials on foster care.Children and young adults age 17 and under who are identified as participants in the DCFS Los Angeles County, Out-of-Home Care (OHS) system licensed foster parents, group home staff members, or relative caregiver, may apply for the card.
