Of course, when we were a lad, there WERE no such thing as old drugs, but we digress ...
It's amazing when two things will cross your transom in a serendipitous way, and we had that this week:
- First, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Dept., in conjunction with the county departments of Public Health and Public Works, have a "Safe Drug Drop-Off" program. Residents can safely and anonymously surrender any unused or expired prescriptions, over the counter medications, sharps, or other controlled substances, no questions asked. The nearest drop off box (which looks like a white post office drop box with the word "DRUG" on it) is at the Crescenta Valley Sheriff's Station, 554 N. Brigg Ave., La Crescenta.
- Or, you can donate them to Altadena artist Susan Braig. who will turn them into idiosyncratic jewelry. Says Susan, "All jewelry sales proceeds will help pay for my recent knee surgery co-payments, my physical therapy, my four month oncology exams and tumor marker tests, and much-needed optometry and dental work, since Blue Cross will not!" Susan will be available selling her "designer drug jewelry" at the Xiem Clay Center Studio Sale this Friday evening (6-9) and Sat. from 10:30 AM-4:30 PM, 1563 N. Lake, Pasadena.
