Received word of two crimes this week worth noting:
First, shared from one of the listservs, a home on Garfias reported June 1:
My wife and I went for an early lunch around 11 AM and came home at about 12:30 PM and found our door handle buckled. It looks like someone tried to pull it out of place to gain access. I'm sure they made enough noise to signal my house dog which is a pit bull. It seems like a bold move to access a house through a front door, but it is possible that they noticed the 2 pit bulls in the backyard and thought that yard dogs were all I have. If they tried my front door, I'm sure they will try others. Please keep all your deadbolts locked and alarms set when you are out.
According to a note from Sheriff Lt. Sheila Sanchez, apparently this wasn't reported to the sheriff at the time.
Also, someone reports outgoing mail was stolen from a residential mailbox on Marengo.
