Lots going on at our local coffee house, both frontstage and backstage:
First, the bodacious Revvell Revati says:
Musical impresario and singer/musician Duane Thorin's 60th birthday will be celebrated at The Coffee Gallery this evening, Sunday, June 19th, beginning with a potluck at 7 and our usual open mic night on the Community Front Stage. If you can't make it to the live festivities, we'll be streaming them live (and recorded) beginning about 8 p.m. here ~ http://bit.ly/aYZgEL. Please, stop in, sign in and share your wishes and blessings with Duane who's been bringing musical groups and entertainment to the Ice House (previously) and now the Coffee Gallery for many years!
And over at the Coffee Gallery Backstage, local favorites The Late Bloomers are playing: Dan Ames, Gayle Bluemel, Ross (Debe) Johnsen, and Scott Shepherd are an acoustic folk-rock band with some intriguing originals in its repertoire. All four are accomplished vocalists and pleasing harmonies dominate the sets. Dan is a singer-songwriter, with a gentle guitar style that he has carried over to the dobro and pedal steel, and Gayle, his wife, plays the keyboard for the group. Debe, the other passionate singer- songwriter, plays guitar and bass and Scott rounds out the instrumentals with his mandolin and driving blues harmonica. (BTW, Gayle's secret identity is as the fabulous principal at our kids' school, Sierra Madre Elementary, so we always give her a plug when we can!) Showtime is at 7 PM, $18 admission.
