A busy (and hot!) Saturday in Altadena yesterday. Some (like the young lady pictured at the Aveson June Jubilee) looked for cool relief, but at the same time didn't want to miss everything that was going on. We've got pictures after the jump.Aveson charter school held its annual June Jubilee under a scorching sun, and without the gangster-rapper-and-graffiti-artist controversy that marred last year's event.
Activity and snack booths lined the field.
One of the events was using a canon to shoot a tennis ball into a pirate flag. Young kids who enjoyed loud noise loved this one.
Over at the Altadena Main Library, it was a celebration of "Art on Millionaire's Row" in the library's first art festival. Local artists, merchants, and restauranteurs lined the library parking lot, giving us a glimpse of the creativity of Altadena life.
Outside, children helped decorate the footbridge to look a little like the Golden Gate Bridge had jumped location.
... while inside, the Community Room had been refurbished into a gallery to display the work of our local talent.
Over in the Senior Center, following the end of voting, volunteers joined together to do the manual labor of democracy -- hand-counting votes for the Altadena Town Council election.
