Our new correspondent Devon Pettengill alerted us to this: the fiction story in this week's New Yorker -- "The Erlking" by Sarah Shun-lien Bynum. It takes place at a Waldorf School Elves' Faire, just like we have here. There's a Father Christmas, just like the Pasadena Waldorf School has at their faire. There are tall fir trees, just like the Waldorf School campus.
But this nails it: the mother recognizes somebody -- a man with a guitar strapped to his back:
"Oh, wow,” her mother whispers. “That’s John C. Reilly."
Yep. A New Yorker piece that takes place in Altadena. Drink it in!
"Zack and Jack" play the blues at the 2008 Pasadena Waldorf School Elves' Faire in Altadena.
