This has all just come down in the past couple of hours (we're writing at 2:30 PM): a child abduction alert was reported for Cheyenne Bradford, 13, 5ft. 7in, a black female with black hair, brown eyes, unknown clothing, who was abducted in Ranch Santa Margarita on July 7. Suspect was David Burton Egert, 48, a white male with receding hair, 6 feet 220 lbs. driving a blue 1994 Toyota pickup. Remarks from the emergency alert system say that Egert was "using Myspace/Facebook with sexually explicit content", and direction of travel was unknown, but possibly Altadena.
As of about 2 PM today, authorities said that the suspect and vehicle were in custody but the victim is still missing. If you can help in any way or share information, please contact the Altadena Sheriff's Station, 798-1131.
UPDATE, 5:45 PM: The Amber Alert was canceled about 5 PM, as the victim was found safely in San Juan Capistrano, according to the state emergency network.
UPDATE 10:45 PM: This AP story gives a rundown of what OC sheriffs have revealed to date -- apparently the suspect was arrested in Altadena and taken to OC for questioning.
