Long time residents of Altadena will remember that years ago there was a coalition of Neighborhood Associations which met each quarter to discuss common issues.
Well, it’s backkkkkkkkkkkk!
While there are indeed regular meetings held by the Sheriff’s Department about crime issue in Altadena, attended by heads of Neighborhood Watch, there just hasn’t been a forum for more “neighborhood issues” such as:
- How do we keep folks from littering our streets
- How do we get to know our neighbors
- What events (pool parties, barbeques, and pot luck dinners) work to keep neighbors “neighborly”?
- How do we prepare for an earthquake?
- And most importantly- How do we keep up communications between neighbors?
Two months ago, Elliot Gold contacted the heads of all Neighborhood Associations in Altadena, and after a small planning meeting attended by heads of a half dozen neighborhood associations, it was decided it was time to form a Coalition of Neighborhood Associations.
The first meeting will be held on Tues., July 27 from 7- 8:30 PM at the Altadena Library, 600 E. Mariposa.
Five Block Captains will present "What has made our Neighborhood Association a success", followed by an open discussion and Q&A.
If you’re interested in how to make your neighborhood association more successful, you should plan to attend.
