These photos were shot at 7:00 am this morning [July 2], about 1 mile north of the Chaney Trail gate. I've been hiking the trail for over 20 years and have never seen anything like this before. Thought you're readers might enjoy the pictures, or better yet, hike up the mountain to see the display for themselves before it's gone.
We can affirm that. We spent the holiday with a short afternoon hike at Buckhorn and dinner at Newcomb's Ranch, and the juxtposition of the charred trees and the riot of wildflowers is something to behold. Get out there!
