Theatre Americana offers free playwriting workshop Aug. 13
Theatre Americana, in collaboration with the LA County Dept. of Parks and Recreaton, presents actWRITE,a free workshop for writers with
playwright/screenwriter Liz Cotone on Fri., Aug. 13 at Davies Hall in Farnsworth Park from 7-9 PM.
Having spent ten years
as a professional actor before dedicating herself to the craft of
writing, Liz Cotone has developed a technique for freeing the writer
within using a combination of writing and acting exercises. The core
belief of the work is that everything you need to be a great storyteller
is already inside you. It is only when our fearful brains get in the
way of our stories that we get stuck. Techniques in the workshop are
designed to get writers into their hearts where they can tap into the
truth of their stories.
For this one-time intro
workshop to this technique, bring:
1. a notebook and your
favorite pen 2. an idea for a story you want to tell on stage
or screen AND/OR 2 - 5 pages of written dialogue from your script that
you'd like to rework in the class.Class size is limited - you must make a
reservation. Please make your reservation by August 7th:
