- Sand candles: Go to the Altadena Library Community Room, 600 E. Mariposa, from 4-5 PM as the teen reading program gets a little dirty while being creative playing in the sand to create fun beach-inspired sand candles. This is just a small part of the Teen Summer Reading Program which ends August 3, 2010. Join today for a great summer of creative programs, fantastic reads and awesome prizes. - Percy Jackson and the Olympians: the teen movie at the Altadena Library, 3:30 PM, rated PG. Admission is free.
- Dude Mirror (rock ... not so classic) performs at the summer music series at scissors/paper/rock salon, 1864 N. Allen, 8-10 PM, no cover.
Sat., July 10
- E-waste roundup at Christ the Shepherd Lutheran Church, 182 E. Altadena Dr., 10 AM-2 PM. All electronics welcome!
- SSGA Summer Concert Series: the swingin' sounds of the Downbeat Express, 7 PM at Farnsworth Park. Don't forget to get your boxed diner at Amy's Patio Cafe, too!

- Monthly bluegrass jam at the Coffee Gallery Backstage, 12:30 PM.
- "Jazz Lives Here": Cheryl Conley in concert in a benefit for Sacred Heart Church, 2 PM at Davies Auditorium at Farnsworth Park.
