6:30 PM -- Fire crews are setting up a headquarters at Eaton Canyon Nature Center, and the order has gone out thru the scanner to evacuate the park. Developing ....
7 PM: We went to check out the scene @ Altadena Dr. and Roosevelt -- smoke in the hills above the Nature Center, lots of fire vehicles. Water-dropping helicopters are already in place, per scanner.
7:10 Caller wanted to know what the three helicopters were spraying over his home. Our suspicion is water -- they're probably grabbing water at the ponds at Brookside Golf Course and flying it to Eaton Canyon -- they did this during the Station Fire.
7:13: Per scanner: Fire command is releasing all Forest Service resources, think county resources should be able to handle it, and they are requesting an investigator.
7:17 per scanner, fire says they think they're getting a handle on it, but want everyone out of the park anyway.

7:43 Per scanner, they're beginning to roll up hoses and release more fire units, and fire scanner traffic is returning to normal.
7:50 Carolyn Seitz of the Sheriff's Citizen Advisory Council sends us this;
The Los Angeles County Fire Department is reporting that the Fire in Eaton Canyon has been knocked down
It was contained to approximately 1 acre.The area will be monitored, likely through the evening
Search & Rescue crews from Altadena and Sierra Madre are still sweeping the trails to evacuate hikers. Montrose Search & Rescue is on scene and ready to assist.Traffic controls may be in place to prevent access to the Canyon for the night, and it is being reported by some residents in the President Streets area that some portions of Altadena Drive are blocked to through traffic.
