The Altadena Library District reports that the Board of Library Trustees selected Gwendolyn McMullins, a retired educator and long-time Altadena resident, to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Shirlee Smith. The LA County Board of Supervisors is expected to confirm the appointment within a month.
The county Board of Supervisors renewed an offer of a $10,000 reward for information in the 2009 slaying of Jerrill Dulaney. The 17-year-old John Muir student was gunned down May 9, 2009 at Altadena Dr. and Fair Oaks. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Sgts. Don Wall or Sandy Nava at the sheriff's Homicide Bureau, 323-890-5500.
Reader Juan Motta told us that he spotted a pair of coyotes prowling up Midlothian north of New York Drive. This is pretty darn far away from the wilderness for them, but it’s a good warning to keep watch on your pets, and bring them in at night.
