Not much action at tonight's Altadena Town Council
meeting, but there were a lot of reports read. Some highlights:
- After some discussion and objections from neighbors about potential parking problems, a planned Oct. 8 farmer's market at Farnworth Park was put off. The organizers said they would work to find a better time and place for the market.
- Altadena Sheriff Capt. Steven McLean discussed the reduction in gang-related crime over the past five months, and talked about the VIDA (Vital Intervention Direction Alternative) program for ages 11-16, which will start in April.
- California Highway Patrol officer Ming Hsu said that the Altadena CHP station would continue to conduct classes for teenage drivers at the office. Altho' there was no more grant money available for the Start Smart driving program, Altadena is the only station that's still holding classes. To schedule a class, contact Hsu at the local CHP office.
