Carolyn Seitz relayed this message from the sheriffs:
A resident in the Stonehill area is reporting the possibility that a package he'd been expecting from Amazon may have been stolen from his porch yesterday afternoon.
According to the tracking information, it was delivered to his porch at 3:16 pm. Other household residents returned at 3:45 pm and there was no package on the porch.
While we all hope that this isn't a theft incident, it's a good time to remind everyone in your neighborhood that criminals will look to take advantage of any and every opportunity they find.
Remember that people were following UPS and FedEx trucks all over southern California last year during the holiday season, stealing packages as quickly as the delivery companies were delivering them.
We all need to stay vigilant.
If you're expecting a package delivery, ask a trusted neighbor who is generally home in the daytime to keep an eye out for it.
If you notice vehicles following delivery trucks, but staying a short distance behind them, call the Sheriff's Department.
If you see people walking slowly up the street looking toward front doors and they aren't your neighbors or other people you recognize, please call the Sheriff's Department.
Be smart - stay safe, and remember to call the Sheriff's Station early and as often as necessary until we get these burglary and theft incidents behind us.
