- Inland News Today reports that Judy Noiron, supervisor of the Angeles National Forest during the Station Fire (and lighting rod for criticism of her handling of the fire), will be laterally moving to become supervisor of the San Bernardino National Forest. Noiron was supervisor of the Angeles for ten years.
- Beverly Quaye of Altadena has filed a $2 million claim against the city of Santa Cruz in the death of her son. 21-year-old Benjamin Quaye, a student at UC Santa Cruz, fell and struck his head while intoxicated near the train tracks. Quay claims that the police department should have followed him on foot to insure his safety after he was ejected from a local bar. J.M. Brown at the Santa Cruz Sentinel has the details.
- The never-annoying Steve Bass reports that the helicopter and sheriff scramble at Midwick Saturday afternoon ended up amounting to nothing -- the stranger found skulking in a backyard was a substitute pool guy, unknown to the owner. But credit the deputies for a quick response in this case.
