Altadena sheriffs have released more information on Friday afternoon's double shooting during an apparent botched robbery attempt.
According to Det. Lt. Joseph Dempsey of Altadena Sheriff Station, deputies responded to the 2000 block of Lincoln Ave. following a "shots fired" report at 4:36 PM Friday afternoon. Deputies discovered one suspect at the scene with a gunshot wound to the neck.
The suspect is a 34-year-old Pomona resident, although from the Pasadena/Altadena area. According to Dempsey, he is a parolee and active gang member. He was transported to Huntington Memorial Hospital, where is in stable but serious condition. Dempsey said he is not being identified at this time because he has not been arrested.
The victim of the apparent robbery, a 43-year-old Pasadena man with no gang affiliation, suffered a gunshot wound to the elbow. According to Dempsey, the victim had someone transport him to the hospital, where he was treated and released.
Deputies are actively looking for two other suspects, described as black males.
As to why one of the suspects was wounded, Dempsey said, "All we know is a struggle ensued between the victim and two suspects, and at some point one suspect was shot."
Any witnesses or anyone with information on the incident is asked to call Det. Nebel at Altadena Sheriff Station, 798-1131.
