Is it that skinny, wiry, sweaty look? That air of triumph over incredible odds? Or the crazed look of determination?
Whatever it is, ultra-marathoners -- runners who laugh at the length of a mere marathon, running for 100 miles or more -- are a special breed.
Photographer Larry Gassan has been capturing that look with a series of photos of ultramarathoners who've crossed the finish line. He'll share them with the public at the new gallery show at Altadena Junction Dec. 3- Jan. 2, 2011.
Opening reception is Fri., Dec. 3, 7-10 PM. The gallery is open Sat. 12-5 and by appointment.
