Plastic bags banned? It sure looks that way -- the LA TImes reports that the board of supervisors (Antonovich dissenting) voted to approve one of the most stringent bans in the nation on plastic grocery bags, to affect all unincorporated areas of LA County. It has very simple language: “No store shall provide to any customer a plastic carryout bag." A paper bag will cost you at least 10 cents. No word on when the ban starts to take effect -- or what effect it will have on local grocers when people start shopping in Pasadena or La Crescenta, which have no bag ban. (Thanks to reader P Goeders, who pointed this out to us).
Another Righteous Transfer! (a blog covering the LA performance art scene) has a review of last week's Marnie Weber "Eternity Forever" show at Mountain View Mausoleum (nuevo-punk in the marbled halls? Why not?)
Food truck! One new to us, The Munchie Machine (it's got a Scooby Doo vibe) tweets us that they'll be at the Business Technology Center, 2400 Lincoln Ave., at noon today. It's open to the public for all those mobile foodies out there.
