Much to nobody's surprise, the Pasadena Unified School board voted to close down Burbank and Loma Alta Schools, reports PSN. Reporter Brian Charles' story points out that the closure will only increase friction between Altadena -- which has already lost several schools in recent years -- and the school district.
Meanwhile, Altadena Schools (Altadenablog sponsor), which is trying to secede from PUSD to start a new school district, is claiming that county officials are stalling the process. Altadena Schools submitted over 7,100 signatures on a petition to start the process of secession, and the county rejected almost 2,000 of them. Altadena Schools requested a chance to audit the disputed signatures in a Nov. 8 letter to the county, and accused county officials of stalling the process in a statement released Tuesday.
