Ellen Snortland writes about the Altadena Urban Farmer's Market in the HuffPo -- and hey, we're linked! Twice! (Thanks, Ellen!) Don't forget that the market opens again tomorrow -- and get there EARLY!
The Los Angeles Police Dept. released more than 100 images recovered in the possession of the serial murder suspect Lonnie David Franklin, Jr., suspected as the "Grim Sleeper." LAPD investigators have assembled a group of images from photographs and videotapes in Franklin's possession, and are trying to identify the women. LAPD Robbery Homicide Detective Dennis Kilcoyne said, "We have a responsibility to identify these women. They may be alive and well, but we need to be certain." The photographs can be viewed at the Los Angeles Police Department’s official website: www.LAPDOnline.org. Anyone with information about this crime is urged to call 1-877-LAPD-24-7 (1-877-527-3247). Anyone wishing to remain anonymous should call Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (1-800-222-8477).
Local artist (and late lamented McGinty's Gallery favorite) Dave Lovejoy will have an opening reception Sat., Jan. 8 for his show "Archaos" at the Lois Lambert Gallery, 2525 Michigan Ave. E3, Santa Monica, 6-9 PM. Assemblage boxes and various repurposed mixed media objects emerge from the unseen beckoning the viewer to look below the surface. Recycled picture frames, old projectors, old cameras, misc. medical objects, and arcane hardware are part of the lost and neglected items that are recombined into three-dimensional images. Check it out.
