Morning jolt

• The Altadena Sheriff's Station tells us that in the month of November, the station received 15 reports of residential burglaries and 16 reports of larcenies (petty thefts, grand thefts, and vehicle burglaries):  "While these numbers are greatly reduced from our high in May, 2010 (39 – residential burglaries and 38 – larcenies), there is still a cause for concern.  Please stay diligent and aware of the activity in your neighborhood.  As always call the Altadena Sheriff’s Station if you see any suspicious activity."

• Farmer's Market at Loma Alta Park?  Councilmember Alice Wessen says that the land use committee and town council will be inviting county types to discuss the possibilities at their January meetings.
• Yes, Altadena has a mayor, and this time around it's Supervisor Mike Antonovich.  In Los Angeles County,  the chair of the board of supervisors is designated as County Mayor.  And, says Antonovich's office, "In addition to 88 cities, Los Angeles County has 134 unincorporated communities.  Members of the Board of Supervisors serve as the “Mayor and City Council” for the 1.5 million residents who live in our unincorporated communities."  So now you know.
