The never-resting Carolyn Seitz tells us that sheriff’s department volunteer and Community Advisory Committee member Jeff Sedlik is working with the Altadena Sheriff Station to create a current and accurate list and map of all of the neighborhood watch groups and neighborhood associations in Altadena. The new resource will be used to:
(1) Allow the Sheriff to communicate urgent alerts and information to all groups and associations.
(2) Support communication and collaboration between neighborhood watch groups.
(3) Simplify the process of forming new neighborhood watch groups.
(4) Allow Altadena residents to easily locate and contact their closest neighborhood watch groups.
(5) Allow the Sheriff to identify areas lacking a neighborhood watch group, and to take action to support and encourage the formation of new groups in those areas.
The Sheriff is aware of 32 groups to-date, all of which are posted on the map-in-progress. Many groups overlap or lie within other groups. Also note that while for-profit blogs, city-wide blogs or discussion groups are excluded from the map, a non-profit discussion group or blog serving a particular neighborhood of Altadena may be eligible for inclusion if no neighborhood watch group exists for that neighborhood.
