Carolyn Seitz updates:
The National Weather Service is showing some updated info. Unfortunately, the County of Los Angeles hasn't published any updates for today.
In summary, the probability for hail and thunderstorms is high.
There may be periodic episodes of gusty winds and in the areas where ground saturation is high, trees may be toppled.
The heavy downpours of rain usually associated with thunderstorms will increase the likelihood of flooding and mud and debris flows, particularly for the burn areas.
The agencies are monitoring the burn areas above La Crescenta, LaCanada/Flintridge and the Canyon Crest area of Altadena, as well as Sierra Madre, for mud and debris flows.
More than 2 inches of rain have fallen in Altadena since midnight and there is a chance that we could have another 1 to 3 inches of rain this afternoon, with rain expected to taper off this evening.
The National Weather Service is predicting that the heaviest rainfall for this afternoon will occur between 1 pm and 3 pm. The flash flood watch remains in effect.
