Yesterday’s storm was a Grand Finale for the last series of storms (Pineapple Express?) that we’ve had. The low pressure system that swept through the area yesterday is now heading east over Arizona.
I got 4.25” of rain yesterday at my weather station here in Altadena and another 0.04” since midnight, and there is still a slight chance of a stray shower today. That brings the total for this last series of storms (Friday – Thursday) to 13.65”. That’s pretty impressive for this early in the season. And, my total for the Season (July – June) is now at 19.37”.
It should be clear and cooler today and warmer tomorrow. More rain is predicted this weekend but timing is still the question. Most models show the system moving through the area Christmas night and possibly leaving 1”-2” of more rain with us here in the foothills before moving on. This next storm will be cooler with snow levels possibly between 5500 and 6000 feet.
Use this brief respite to clean your gutters and downspouts and prepare for the next storm. Keep your eye on current conditions and the forecast at the Altadena WeatherCam http://www.westphalfamily.com/wxdata2.html
