Received notice about 2 PM that Altadena sheriffs and Altadena Mountain Rescue Team are in Eaton Canyon to rescue a 26-year-old male hiker who fell 200 feet. Sheriff's alert says he is located north of the second waterfall, 1/2 way to the third waterfall. He has sustained several injuries, unknown severity, but is alert and speaking with rescuers by cell phone. He called in about 1:05 PM.
UPDATE 3:20 PM: Per the scanner, the victim is in a deep canyon below power lines, so they will be unable to use the helicopter to get him out unless they can move him to an approachable place.
UPDATE 7 PM: Sheriff's Dept. alerts us there were two rescues in Eaton Canyon today -- still getting details..
UPDATE: A second hiker, in an entirely different accident, also a man in his 20's, fell about 50 feet and was injured and airlifted to the hospital by rescue workers.
