A motion by Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich directs the Department of Public Works to conduct an Environmental Impact Report (EIR) on the proposed project to remove over 1.5 million cubic yards of sediment from the Devil's Gate Dam and Reservoir area in Pasadena, according to a statement released from his office Friday.
“With a significant impact on the environment and the community, this project merits careful environmental analysis,” said Antonovich in the statement.
The motion also requires the Department to report back to the Board in 90 days with a plan to remove sediment along the face of the dam while the EIR is conducted on the entire site.
The project as planned will require 300-400 trucks per day for about three years to remove sediment in the area of Hahamongna Watershed.
